15 Annie's father was definitely born in Mississippi, her mother probably in Indian Territory, Oklahoma. Annie is enrolled as 1/4 Choctaw by blood, meaning one grandparent was Choctaw, most likely one of her mother's parents. Her father's name is too common to easily trace her parents or grandparents. Annie is most likely born in OK (Ind. Terr.) -- although one census says Ark. -- so I conjecture that her father migrated to and married there. No census there in 1880. There is a census of the Choctaw Nation, 1885, but 448 pp are too long to browse. Brown, Annie Lee (I190)

63 DAR apps mostly cite Matthew's birth date as 1720 but some as late as 1735. The only firm date is payment for frontier service in 1758, per Hening/Shepherd, assuming this is the correct Matthew, but that does not limit much.

I speculate that the earliest dates may have been derived from the (erroneous) consideration that Matthew's two elder sons participated with him in 1758. That pushes their birth dates back to no later than 1742, which would limit Matthew's birth date to no later than 1724-26. DAR apps show John & Williams birth dates abt 1747-1749. No primary sources for them, so no derived date for Matthew.

DAR apps cite marriage date as 1738, which does push Matthew's b/d back to 1720. However, same sources show Mary Maupin b/d as 1723, which would mean she was married at 15. If we assume their oldest child was born circa 1747, the marriage was probably no earlier than 1745. This also conforms better to their alleged ages.
